As one of the world's largest tire manufacturers, Michelin produces special tires for almost every means of transport: for cars, vans, trucks, buses, agricultural machinery, earth-moving equipment, special vehicles, light rail vehicles, subways, aircraft, motorcycles, scooters and bicycles. The product portfolio covers a broad spectrum: the smallest tires have a diameter of 20 centimetres, the lightest tires weigh just over 200 grams. The largest dump truck tire measures over four meters in diameter and weighs more than five tons. Every seventh tire worldwide comes from the Michelin Group.

RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT
Motorsport is an important driving force in the development of new solutions. Michelin has been involved here for many years in order to test technologies under the toughest conditions and then quickly transfer them to series products. Each year, the company invests around three quarters of a billion euros in research and development. More than 6,000 employees in nine research and development centers around the globe are working on the transformation towards safe, clean and efficient mobility. 247 patents filed in 2021 alone underpin the company's unbridled drive for innovation, while more than 10,000 active patents worldwide strengthen Michelin's leading market position.

THE MICHELIN MAN: MORE THAN A BRAND
It is known around the globe and for many, it is the figure of identification par excellence: the Michelin Man. It's hard to believe that the eternally young Michelin Man is already approaching his 130th birthday. In 1894, company founder Édouard Michelin saw a packaged stack of tires at the world exhibition in Lyon, in which he recognized human-like features - the rest is history. Today, the Michelin Man is much more than a logo: lively, likeable, honest and with a high reputation. For the Financial Times, he is the best logo of all time (2000).
