Electrical Automation Engineer

The opportunity:
The Electrical Automation Engineer will support the manufacturing process and equipment by designing, specifying, purchasing and constructing electrical automation systems and components. This position will include aspects of project management, technical specification, design, analysis, installation management, equipment start-up and manufacturing.
What you will do:
The successful candidate will be responsible for completing the automation portion of large capital projects in support of the Plant Capital execution as well as Plant Technical support to enable the plant to meet its market, productivity, and quality goals. They will assist management with pre-studies of deployment and development projects in the electrical automation field. They will also execute design studies and follow procurement and fabrication of equipment and lead the installation, commissioning and start-up of the equipment in an industrial plant environment. Additionally:
- provide detailed electrical design and automation programming for assigned projects and plant technical assistance;
- provide estimates and technical schedules for all phases of process equipment addition, replacement or upgrade;
- provide backup support and training to plant maintenance teams on newly implemented automation systems;
- collaborate with internal company support groups to accomplish objectives, and provide contract engineering management and direction when needed; and,
- participate in assigned major capital projects and/or modifications from start to finish, including equipment reception, commissioning, and acceptance.
What you will bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent;
- minimum of 2-4 years of proven experience in electrical automation design;
- experience with electrical design standards and the ability to complete controls systems designs using standard CAD design tools;
- experience in Project Team Leadership or Project Management;
- experience with PLC programming standards and programming software, including GRAFCET, Ladder Logic, and Structured Text (Rockwell and Siemens);
- experience with Variable Frequency drives and Motion Control technologies (Rockwell, Siemens and Control Techniques);
- experience with HMI configuration, programming and communication (Rockwell);
- experience with control systems network interfaces and various protocols for communications between devices including computer system databases;
- vision System configuration and interface for width measurement applications and defect detection applications. (Specific experience with Cognex, Keyence, Adept, Bytewise, Gocator is an asset); and,
- robotic experience, configuration or knowledge (Fanuc, ABB).
